SkyPort Solution
SkyPort is a point-of-sale unit consisting of a docking station and a detachable handset. It can be used in two modes: trolley-based which allows for hands-free operation or seat-side service using the handset on its own. SkyPort is one of the platforms for the SkyTrader inflight point-of-sale software.

Components
The current SkyPort configuration consists of:
- Handheld device:

- enables fast acceptance of credit/debit cards via swipe and signature - Data transfer
- transfers data to and from the aircraft using GPRS, Pod (combined battery and memory unit), CF or PCMCIA card
- Thermal clamshell printer
This configuration can be extended to include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, thereby enabling wireless networking within the aircraft and wireless data transfer between stationary aircraft and your back office system.
SkyPort is a ruggedised robust unit that withstands 1 metre drop tests and has passed environmental testing to RCA 160D specifications.

- Physical methods for transferring data to and from aircraft, including CF/PCMCIA cards and Pods (combined battery and memory units); Pods reduce the number of items being transferred and are less susceptible to theft
- Handset enables PDAs to be issued to crew members for corporate or personal use
- Handset can be adapted to house different makes of PDA
- This SkyPort configuration can be extended to include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, thereby enabling wireless networking within the aircraft and wireless data transfer between stationary aircraft and your back office system
