Clue® Trader announces exciting new developments for inflight sales management at Orlando 2001
A range of new enhancements to the Clue® Trader suite of inflight management solutions were on show in the Cyber Cafe at IAADFS Orlando 2001. The systems being demonstrated by BOM, the UK-based software house, included GroundTrader, a well-established Bond and Head Office management solution, which is currently used by Britannia Airways to support inflight sales on 17,000 flights a year.
Visitors to the show were also able to see the SkyTrader POS system in action. The system is used by airlines such as Air France and Iberia, and runs on a wide range of platforms including Epson and DAT500, as well as Compaq and Symbol Pocket PCs.
Particular interest was shown in the SkyTrader system for the iPAQ, a lightweight, yet very powerful and versatile alternative to traditional handhelds. The iPAQ runs a wide range of applications, offers Internet connections and is able to communicate, via wireless networks, to onboard servers and other devices.
BOM also announced that it will now be offering destination currency exchange services through its Clue® Trader POS systems in association with SkyTeller, who joined BOM on their stand in the Cyber Cafe.
Also on show was Clue® Trader's new credit card encryption technology, based on a highly secure 192-bit key. The encryption system is loaded onto each POS unit via the RAM card, and, for added security, the key is changed between each sector. On inbounding (and bar recovery) the Clue® Trader ground system then decrypts the card numbers and saves them in a database.
